Several cups of coffee. Regardless to weather- hot, cold, snowy, windy, humid, I love starting my day with hot coffee. Traveling for work, I’ve experienced both good and bad coffee. Sometimes the hotel has fabulous coffee, and it’s a great start to the day. Other times the hotel has mediocre coffee, so I scour the neighborhood for a great coffee shop. However, the best option is starting my day at home, where I can make my own cup of joe.

As I mentioned many years ago, a favorite way for me to finish off my cup of coffee is with frothed milk. This isn’t something that I do everyday; it feels too indulgent for that. But as a special midweek or Sunday morning treat, I froth my milk and top it with a sprinkle of cinnamon, sugar, or both. That changes it from regular old coffee to a homemade latté- a delightful indulgence.

For many years I have made my coffee in a fairly typical coffeemaker. Add water, freshly ground coffee, and a pot is ready in a few minutes. That is handy for mornings when I work from home and will consume a few cups. However, there are mornings when I need only a single cup before I hit the road. On those mornings, using my coffeemaker seemed cumbersome. Thankfully I discovered that the same company that makes my frother also makes single serve machines.

With a new single serve coffeemaker in my house, I’ve been trying different brands to find a coffee that was just right for me. I recently found lungo arabica forte Gourmesso coffee capsules, which are the perfect solution to my one-cup of coffee mornings. One delicious cup of strong coffee is brewed, and I’m ready to hit the road.

Although I’m primarily a morning coffee person, now that I have a single cup brewer, I do have to admit that sometimes an afternoon or evening coffee or espresso has become a fairly regular phenomenon. Of course, as someone who enjoys an occasional cookie, what better way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon than a coffee and cookie? A splash of amaretto might make it better, but other than that, it’s pretty perfect.

Yeah, so maybe coffee isn’t just a great way to start the day; it might also be a preferred way to end it.
