There are so many things you can do with a dehydrator. For starters, you can extend the shelf-life of fruits and vegetables by dehydrating them at home. It is also so much better – and healthier – to dehydrate food at home, simply because you know exactly what goes into the packaging as you store the produce for later use.

To make it even better, there are some great recipes you can try when you have a food dehydrator at home. Here are the three easiest recipes you can try today.

Fruit Roll-Ups
Fruit roll-ups, otherwise known as fruit leather, is a simple dish to make. You are dehydrating your favourite fruits in thin slices. You can then eat the fruit roll-ups directly or use them in other dishes. To make fruit roll-ups, here are a few things you need:

  • Fruits – Be sure to wash them thoroughly before you use them in this recipe
  • 2 tablespoons of grass-fed gelatine
  • A blender
  • Food dehydrator – Read these food dehydrators reviews and pick one that suits your kitchen the most
  • Dehydrator sheets

The process of making fruit roll-ups is easy. Add the fruit of your choice and blitz them using your blender. Don’t hesitate to experiment a bit and mix different fruits to get different flavours. Add gelatine to thicken the mixture to a paste-like consistency.

Next, pour small portions of the mixture onto a dehydrator sheet. Make sure you keep the mixture thin and spread out. Once you’re done, you can dehydrate the mixture until it turns into thin sheets. The dried mixture can now be rolled.

Fruit roll-ups are great for afternoon snacks and as a side dish for dessert.

Chocolate Covered Dehydrated Kiwi
This next one is even easier to make than the roll-ups we talked about earlier. All you need to make chocolate covered dehydrated kiwi is chocolate paste, some kiwi fruits and your food dehydrator.

Slice the peeled kiwi fruits to get started. Keep the slices thin to maintain that crunchy texture of the fruit. You can then dehydrate the sliced kiwi and pour chocolate on top of it. This, too, is great for afternoon snacks. Dehydrated kiwi is also great for small parties with friends.

Cacao Cookies with Raw Pecan Cream
For the cookies, you need 2 cups of organic oat flour, ½ cup of cacao powder, ¼ cup of coconut butter and some maple syrup. For the filling, you need 2 cups of pecans, ½ cup of coconut butter, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and some maple syrup.

To make the cookies, simply put all the dry ingredients into a food processor. Mix them and add 1 or 2 tablespoons of water if needed. Start adding the coconut butter and maple syrup to the mix too. Once the cookie mix is thick and consistent, flatten it up and use cookie cutters to cut them into shape. Dehydrate the cookie mix for around 4 hours.

The filling is even easier to make. Just mix all ingredients and apply the mixture between two dehydrated cookies. That’s it! You will have some tasty cacao cookies with raw pecan cream to enjoy.
