Pasta doesn’t have to be a boring dinner. Make it exciting with one of these 2 simple ways to top pasta!
Sure, marinara makes a fine sauce for a bowl of spaghetti. If that is your go-to sauce, it might become a little boring. These two pasta toppings are simple to make (really not much longer than heating a jar of sauce) and will make dinner extra exciting!
Homemade Parsley or Basil Pesto– This is the classic recipe for pesto. Sure, you could buy it premade at the grocery store, but what fun is that? When you make your own, you get to decide how much garlic, parmesan, etc. will be in the pesto. Isn’t that so much better?
Sundried Tomato Spread– While I named this a spread, it really could be used just like a pesto. Top your farfalle with a scoop of it. Serve it with warm bread and olive oil. Either way it’s a spread that’s going to pair well with an Italian dinner or just a glass of red wine.
So, which one suits your fancy? Get the ingredients, and then discover how much more you enjoy pasta night!
Update: I figured I might well add a third alternative pasta topping: Roasted Red Pepper Pesto.
