We’ve chosen these desserts for an assortment of reasons. Some are perfect, as they use seasonal produce. Others are the perfect way to end a summer cookout. One is the perfect way to enjoy a little indulgence completely on your own. No matter the reason we chose them, they all make a deliciously sweet way to end a meal.

Angel Food Cake– We’ll start with the recipes perfect for a summer cookout. You’ve spent all afternoon and evening hanging out with friends and eating. You’ve had chips and dip, hot dogs, corn on the cob, and so much more. But a meal isn’t done without dessert, so now is the time for something light. This angel food cake is the perfect solution. Bake it early in the day and serve it with some fresh fruit (whatever is local and sweet should work well). Ta-da! The meal is ending with a simple hint of sweetness.

Sweet & Crunchy Pretzel Clusters– Picture the same scenario from above. You’re full of great food but still lingering with friends. Rather than a slice of this or that, how about a handful of a salty and sweet snack mix? The coating of the snack mix will give you that sweetness you are craving, but the base of pretzels give a delightful bit of salt to keep it in balance. The lovely thing about this dessert is that you can nibble on it throughout the evening.

Dessert Crepes– Summer always makes me think of fruit. In New Hampshire we start with strawberries in June and follow them with blueberries, cherries, and raspberries. All of these fruits are the perfect filling for a sweet crepe. Simply take the fruit of your choice and let it hang out with sugar for an hour before serving. Then you have a delicious dessert that is sure to please (which could be served as an indulgent breakfast as well).

One Serving Gooey Brownie– You may be wondering what a brownie has to do with summer. It made me think of my teenage years, when I’d have a day off from my summer job and have the house to myself for the day, or even afternoon. I didn’t need an entire batch of brownies, but a single serving would be perfect. This recipe is meant to satisfy the craving of anyone else who is enjoying a lovely summer day at home, alone.
