Cranberries are available in the produce department of most grocery stores from September through December.

White cranberries are regular cranberries that are picked sooner; they tend to be less tart.

To determine if cranberries are good for eating, make sure that they are firm and have no bruises.

When boiling cranberries, only cook until they have popped. Further cooking will make them bitter.

Cranberries can be stored in the refrigerator for a month. They also can be stored in freezer bags and frozen for about a year.
