You could send a simple text to your buddies, you could drop off a little gift for your best friend, or you could host a celebration for a group of your gal pals. If you choose to recognize the day with some sort of in-person connection, food is a must!

When I was combing through the Think Tasty archives to find the perfect pairings, I thought about a couple of my best friends. For me there are foods that I associate with each. Today I’m sharing two of them.

If you want to drop off a simple gift, why not make a batch of carrot cake cupcakes? Not only are they easily transported, you also can divide a batch of 24 among two to four friends. Who wouldn’t want to receive a sweet treat to mark this day?

If you’re thinking that a party is more your idea of fun, a batch of espinaca could be in store. It can be made in less than 15 minutes and then kept in a small crockpot on low heat for quite some time. Set out a bag of tortilla chips, and watch it disappear!

Finally, if you have children, you can involve them not only by sharing food with their friends but also by trying some of the crafts at Holidays Helper. We also have suggestions for books and games that can be part of your Friendship Day celebration.

Here’s to a friend-filled August 2nd!
